xMP Ontology Creator

The xMP Ontology Creator is an internal tool used to create and structure the xMP HRM Content database. It is also used to create relations between concepts and to generate 'file' for distribution with the xMP software package. xMP Ontology Creator has the built-in intelligence to test expansion algorithms, analyze concepts, and divide them into meaningful clusters.

All concepts are stored as different types, such as functions, competencies, education, tasks, languages, schools, companies, etc.

Concepts are organized into "Groups" (function groups): sets of functions having similar characteristics or that are commonly accepted as alternatives (without being identical to each other). These groups are then linked to the industry sector and the domain (specialization within a company) as appropriate.

For example: 'Software Development Manager' belongs to:

• Group: ICT Management Functions
• Domain: ICT
• Sector: ICT

Whereas an ‘Account Manager' belongs to:

• Group: Sales Execution Functions
• Domain: Sales & Marketing
• But has no sector (as it can be found in all sectors!)

Actonomy provides a flexible framework in which users can create their own words or concepts and link these to other words with a similar or related meaning. Even more, each word can be linked to its context or domain in which it is used. Users can simply do this by using the Actonomy xMP Ontology Creator or the Actonomy xMP Ontology Webbrowser.
