WCC Group

Jan Muchez, COO

WCC Group, the world’s leading advanced searching and matching technology developer, is growing at a rapid pace. In the employment space it focusses on public employment organizations, such as VDAB and Actiris In Belgium.

The company is combining two different approaches to deliver high-quality search and match results. Jan Muchez, the company’s COO: ‘On the one hand, we use our in-house developed algorithms to provide high quality and transparent results. On the other hand we use knowledge bases to increase the relevance of the results. We populate these knowledge bases with official taxonomies established by international and national organizations.’

The official taxonomies however have limitations. Muchez: ‘The knowledge captured in the formal taxonomies is sometimes different from the everyday speaking language as used in the text of job vacancies and résumés. It is important to complement the formal taxonomies with semantic knowledge captured from the real world.’ This is why WCC contacted Actonomy in 2017.

‘Actonomy is strong in building complex HR-ontologies, using machine-learning and artificial intelligence. Thanks to Actonomy’s xMP-platform, we can add semantic knowledge to further increase the relevance of the search and match results.’

Actonomy’s revolutionary semantic search platform is now seamlessly integrated into WCC’s search and match technology. Actonomy is building ontologies for WCC in different languages and different cultural contexts. The development of a new language version typically takes 6 to 9 months. Muchez: ‘We have the software to easily link the semantic ontologies with our existing software. The combination of our strong algorithmic approach combined with both taxonomies and ontologies makes our offering truly unique.’

Why did WCC choose for Actonomy? Muchez: ‘There was this ‘instant click’ between our companies. Actonomy has a bunch of clever developers, they are pleasant and easy to work with and have a strong track record. It feels like a good partnership. By adding their semantic searching tool xMP we do considerably augment our commercial success rate.’

Actonomy xMP – Ultimate searching and matching

Actonomy xMP is based on human and artificial intelligence to mimic the quality of human recruiters, but do so on a much faster and accurate level than humans do. The technology is based on a deep understanding of how humans interpret meanings to a very deep level.

Automated semantic searching and matches does much more than matching words to one another: it matches the meaning of these words, as well as of the underlying concepts and contexts.
